2020 BMW 7 Series User Manual PDF Download – BMW’s flagship luxury sedan was renovated in the first few weeks of 2019 and, as soon as it was presented, was instantly received as the most controversial interpretation of the line that started at 1977. Visual and design improvements, new dimensions, high-tech gadgets, and improved propulsion systems have faded into the background because of a design element that has divided fans: the large-sized kidney grid.

It is offered in two bodywork variants: Standard and long wheelbase: The new Series 7 remains faithful, however, in a market segment that helped design and shape for decades.
All the changes that were made so that the facelift is recognizable are tarnished by the “significantly larger BMW kidney grid” installed in the car. The element is so large that most of the time eclipses almost everything else.
So how big is it? According to BMW’s own admission, the grid is now 40 percent larger than in the outgoing generation, and easily occupies most of the front of the car. There seems to be no structural or functional reason behind this enlarged grid.
The combination of this new grille with the thinner headlight units helps to exaggerate the element’s proportions, despite the surround sound of a piece that tries to contain it.
But not only the grid is bigger in the new series 7. The exterior air intakes now feature large painted plates and chrome finish strips, the side edge strip now goes to the rear apron and the air respirators on the front side panels are now almost vertical. Highlighting all these changes is the front end 50 mm higher.
In general, the new Series 7 retains its massive appearance, with the redesigned bonnet wearing a much larger BMW insignia.
At the back, the apron copies the design of the front edge of the air inlet, and the exhaust exhaust pipes come with larger chromed edges.
The interior of the new Series 7 continues to focus on luxury, with several changes in terms of convenience and materials made to further enhance comfort.
In general, the materials used are Nappa or Merino leather for upholstery and fine wood for some of the inner strips.
The occupants of the car can be bathed by the ambient lighting flowing from the dashboard, the shoulders of the doors, the pockets of the maps on the backs of the front seats and in the spaces for the feet.
To avoid further noise from the outside when entering the cockpit, BMW adjusted the insulation elements in the area of the upright B, the covers of the safety belt outlets and the back of the rear seat. In addition, the thickness of the windshield, the side windows and the rear window have increased by 5.1 mm.
The position of some of the interior elements of the car has changed for face washing. The wireless tray for charging smart phones, for example, is now placed in front of the cup holders, instead of the center console armrest, and the instrument pool and control screen have been modified.
For the driver and the front passenger, the new Series 7 offers information through the same BMW Live Cockpit Professional system that is based on a huge set of screens: a 12.3-inch that acts as the instrument group and a 10.25 screen. Inches controlling the infotainment system. For the occupants of the rear, Series 7 has to offer an entertainment system based on DH touchscreens.
Like most high-end BMW, the 7 series also works with the company’s 7.0 operating system. This system essentially makes the car an executive office on Wheels, as it offers Microsoft Office 365 and Skype for Business. Remote software upgrades are also available.
The operating system benefits from the latest automotive manufacturer advances in information and entertainment technology, including the voice-controlled intelligent personal assistant.
The offer of engines for the new Series 7 is extensive to say the least, even from the first moment. There will be eight engine configurations available even from launch, all of which are compatible with Euro 6d-Temp.
The gasoline variants offered for the range begin with the BMW M760Li xDrive equipped with a V12 gasoline engine (now equipped with a gasoline particulate filter (GPF)) and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. This combo develops 585 hp and has a fuel consumption rating of 12.5 to 12.4 L/100 km (22.6 to 22.8 mpg imp).
The BMW 750i xDrive comes with a petrol V8 engine and the same transmission. It develops 530 hp (an increase of 80 hp compared to the previous generation) and has a consumption rating of 9.5-9.5 L/100 km (29.7-29.7 mpg imp).
Two hybrid variants are offered for the new Series 7, the 745e and the 745Le, both combining a six-cylinder petrol engine with a synchronous electric motor and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. Both use a revised high-voltage battery, which gives them an electric range of 50-58 kilometers (31-36 miles).
The diesel range compensates for the rest of the models on offer. It includes the xDrive 750d, xDrive 740d, 730d and XDrive 730d, with power outputs ranging from 265 to 400 hp.
BMW calls the car “a progressive interpretation of the luxury brand”, but the model has been instantly called by its detractors, the ugliest of the series 7 done to date, due to the huge kidney grid.
But regardless of where you feel about this, the living room is still one of the most powerful nameplates in your segment and a car that has helped over the years defines what luxury sedan means.
Despite the visual deficiencies of the grid, it is likely to continue to be a role model for executives in the market for a new car.
